About

I am a studio potter and pottery tutor working in a studio at the end of my garden in Worcester.

Many years ago I trained as an occupational therapist and worked in mental health services and then became a University lecturer. I am now a full-time potter and pottery tutor. I threw my first pot in 1981; a patient taught me to throw on a kick wheel. Following that, I was hooked. I joined evening classes in London and worked on my throwing technique. I moved to Worcester and joined a pottery group in a shared studio, throwing pots when I had a spare moment away from children and work. I began making pots with my patients as it’s a very calming therapeutic activity. My husband and Mother bought me my first wheel and kiln for my 40th birthday present. My husband then built me a beautiful pottery studio and many a happy hour has been spent wedging clay, throwing, turning, glazing and firing pots.

I create wheel-thrown stoneware pots. My pots are both functional and, hopefully, beautiful. I make mugs, plates, bowls and vases. I love stoneware glazes and the reactions achieved by dipping one glaze over another.
